Citizen Police Academy
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a police officer? The Mt. Juliet Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy (CPA) gives you a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and the role we play in keeping our community safe.
This free, 11-week program meets Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and offers hands-on training in a welcoming environment. Each session covers various aspects of policing, including:
- Patrol Functions
- Investigative Functions
- Community Engagement
- Crime Suppression Operations
- Special Response Team Operations
- Hands-On Scenarios
- K-9 Demonstrations
- Tour of the Wilson County Jail
- Complete the Handgun Carry Permit Course
- SWAT & K-9 Demonstrations
- Ride-a-Long with an Officer
- And much more!
Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion at the final session and then have the opportunity to be a part of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni volunteer team, which assists the department in many ways!
Important Note: The Citizens Police Academy is not a law enforcement certification or employment program. Its purpose is to educate and engage community members, fostering stronger relationships between officers and residents.
Join us and gain a new perspective on policing in Mt. Juliet!
